Final Update on the Way


I posted this yesterday on the Steam page for Episode 1, but there is one final update to the game that should wrap up issues that still need fixing. The bulk of it should be the reworked code that I'm having an experienced programmer work on, so when I get that back, it will only be a matter of days for the update to be published. Here's what's on the to-do list:

-Better optimization: Overall we are trying to target frame rate and the random crashes. While I'm not sure how this will affect the minimum specs of the game (The specs listed on the steam store page are the specs of my own computer, because I know it tends to run well on them), it should obviously at least help those who experienced issues.
-Re-balanced combat: I plan to rework the combat stats of the game in order to improve the overall feel and balancing of the game's combat.
-New "Talk" feature: The diary button in the drop-down menu of the pause screen will be replaced with a talk button instead. The diary will still be accessible through selecting the diary in the key item tab, such as how the cipher wheel is opened. The talk window will allow you to talk to Jyl when stuck on what to do, providing a reminder for the current overall goal (exploring, trying to open a door, etc.) as well as more specific puzzle solving goals when faced with a puzzle (hints on what to look out for to solve a puzzle in your current room, explaining what's in the way, etc.) Additionally, while in save rooms, extra small talk dialogue can be triggered if desired.
-Remixed/mastered soundtrack: While the songs themselves will be the same, a friend of mine has fixed some tracks in the game that could be leveled out better. I am a complete ignoramus when it comes to audio, so basically this is supposed to make the songs hurt your ears less. I make certain tones too loud, what can I say?

I'm supposed to get the optimized game project back by March 31st, and at that point, I'll be implementing the rest of the content for the update myself. So, my goal is to get this rolled out in around a month, ideally the first week of April. Will get back to you guys when I have more to share, either to update everyone on progress, or to announce that the update is live!
